Update: BBQ Has Been Rescheduled for October 9, Fry’s Spring

Hurricane Ian’s remnants are expected to impact Virginia this weekend. Due to the impending storms, the Albemarle Dems BBQ scheduled for Sunday, October 2 has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 9, from 3 – 6 pm. The BBQ will take place on the patio and grounds at Fry’s Spring Beach Club, 2512 Jefferson Park Avenue.

For those with limited mobility, there is limited parking towards the front of Fry’s Spring Beach Club. That parking is accessible through the Old Lynchburg Road entrance (do not drive through the parking lot but use that entrance which is to the left of the front of the building). We kindly request everyone else park at Jefferson Park Baptist Church, 2505 Jefferson Park Avenue, a 4-minute walk away.

Be on the Lookout for Mail-in Ballots

If you requested a mail-in ballot, be on the lookout as it should be in the mail. You may return your ballot to the dropbox at the County Office Building on 5th Street. If you are returning your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked on or before election day and received by your general registrar’s office by noon on the third day following the election.

According to the Virginia Department of Elections, A witness signature is required on all mail-in ballots cast in the November 8, 2022 General and Special elections. If a ballot is missing a witness signature, the voter will be contacted within three days of receipt by the local voter registration office and asked to correct it. The ballot must be corrected by noon on Monday, November 14th in order to be counted.”
