Albemarle County Electoral Board Meeting
March 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Albemarle generally holds its Board meetings on the second Thursday of the month in person at the Albemarle County offices on 5th street and via Zoom. More info can be found here: https://www.albemarle.org/government/elections/electoral-board or email me. The meetings usually last a couple of hours, but you can arrive and leave on your own schedule. They are open to the public and there is time for public comment if you’re interested.
The Albemarle Democratic Voter Protection Coordinator, Laurie Jones, writes:
“The meetings can be boring, but they’re also an important window into how elections are run and what efforts are being made to compromise our community members’ access to their vote. The rules made during the year by these boards directly impact Election Day! It’s more important than ever to show support for our democratic member and the Registrar’s staff. I’ve seen firsthand how my presence has affected the outcomes of discussions by the Board; similarly, how a room full of republicans encourages the Chair to wax eloquently on changing the laws we see as safeguarding free and fair elections.”
